Going green’ is the trend these days since the world is facing a lot of environmental problems specifically global warming. Electricity comes from fossil fuels which are being burned. The emissions contribute a lot to global warming and one way to address this issue is by using solar power for homes. Even the federal and state governments are now encouraging many homeowners to utilize solar power by offering grants and loans. Solar power is a must for homes and it is not just for the rich people.

Are you familiar with DIY solar power kits? The DIY kits are widely available in online stores and perhaps in local stores. All you need to do is shop around and find a suitable system that can work for your home.

Why is the solar power system a must for homes?

As mentioned earlier, the government is also supporting green energy through grants and loans. Aside from that, there are also incentives. For instance, if you spend around $20,000 on system installation, the state government will give you a 30% credit. This means that your next tax bill will decrease by 30% of $20,000 which is $6,000. The credit can also be extended to the following year as long as the amount is covered fully.

Once you install the system, it requires minimum maintenance. Make sure that you also clean and clear it properly. You can consult a professional who knows a great deal about solar power systems and have yours checked annually. Most homeowners do little work on their systems and this is a great advantage.

Sunlight is available for all and since fossil fuels are depleting, it is an excellent option. If you install a system for your home, you will simply need to invest once and after that, you can now benefit as long as the system is working properly. Your electricity bills will surely be reduced and so you will have smaller bills every month. You can use the solar power system for your outdoor lights, garden lights and features, and even for indoor use as long as the inverter is big enough.

Solar panels are one of the most popular solar power systems used today. If blackouts are quite common in your area, it would really help a lot if you install solar power. That way, even if other homes don’t have electricity, your home can still have electricity. Solar panels are reliable as well as the other systems available today. Most manufacturers also provide warranty and so you can expect the solar panels to be durable. You won’t hear any noise since the panels are working quietly while producing the needed energy.

Electrocution cases are rare since the photovoltaic cells have low amperage and are very safe. Power is produced without emissions or fuel combustions.

Most of all, with solar power systems, you can help in saving the environment. You can help in decreasing pollution and the degradation of the environment. The power systems can last for decades with proper maintenance and care. If you’re interested to go green, don’t hesitate to install a solar power system for your home. This is the best time to make a choice a choice that can have a significant impact to the world After installation of the system, you can now enjoy a continuous supply of green electricity.

Lastly, you got to check out the (http://www.lifegateway.com/uaw/solar/) Energy Saving method that save the earth and my bill too. I didn’t know that I can make my own solar panel that only costs me less than one thousand dollar.

The earth receives more energy from the sun in one hour than the power requirement of the world for the whole year. Solar energy is free, renewable, clean and sustainable. We know how to harness it and we know where to use it best. Below are the different uses of solar energy.

Grid-Tied Residential Homes

Solar energy can be used hand in hand with your current electricity provider. This is ideal to those who live in places where sunlight does not shine year round, to those who live in areas where electricity is cheap and to those who just want to use solar energy as a backup to their existing source of power. The idea is that if you have 2 sources of power, you can get uninterrupted power supply all the time.

One of the benefits of having a grid-tied solar energy system at home is that you can turn your electric meter backwards. This happens when you produce more energy than you use. The excess power that your system generates is sent out to the grid, which will be used by other households. As a result, your electric meter turns backwards and your electric provider will pay you for the amount of energy your system has produced.

Homeowners can use solar energy in producing electricity to power security lights around the house’s perimeter. Since these types of lights consume as much as 5 times more power than the household’s daily energy requirement, opting for solar energy system is very reasonable.

Solar power system may not be used to answer the entire power requirement of the household. Sometimes it is used to power particular equipment such as lighting, water pumping, cooking and water heating or other equipments that consume the most amount of energy.

Corporate Buildings

To save on electric bills, many companies and building owners install PV cells on their atria. On large industrial buildings, PV cells can be installed on rooftops. While the initial cash out is expensive, the amount of savings the system produces over the years will pay for itself.

Off-Grid Homes

If you have a cabin house or a farm house located far from the power grids, a solar power system can be your best source of electricity. Also, it is ideal if you need to power stand-alone sensing equipment and remote telemetry. Holiday homes that receive a substantial amount of sunlight can also benefit on this system.

Community halls, schools, clinics and other buildings that are not connected to any grid lines can use PV cells to generate power from the sun.

Signs and Street lights

Lights to brighten our street and street signs consume large amount of energy. This energy is drawn from electric providers that use conventional fossil fuels. To reduce the demand for this type of energy source, signs and street light can be installed with solar power systems that store power during the day and use it to light the streets at night Many cities have solar panels attached to their street lights to save money and reduce fossil fuel burning.

Other Recreational Application

RVs and marine vehicles require small amount of power which are drawn from its engine. This consumes fuel and emits greenhouse gases. To reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gases emission, owners prefer charging their batteries with solar panels.

Lastly, you got to check out the (http://www.lifegateway.com/uaw/solar/) Energy Saving method that save the earth and my bill too. I didn’t know that I can make my own solar panel that only costs me less than one thousand dollar.

Solar energy for residential houses is nothing new. It has just been relegated to the background in lieu of rising price of real estate; due to more advanced constructing materials, layout and the limitation of resources.

Because man started building homes, sunlight played a major influence in the style. In fact, even in the more advanced urban planning method of the Ancient Chinese and Greeks, the orientation from the buildings is as much as possible directed towards wherever it could capture the most sunlight.

The ancients may not be as intellectually sophisticated then to use catch phrases as passive solar and thermal mass nevertheless when they build, they had been building in compact proportion, employing overhangs, producing insulations and constructing in manners that direct the airflow within the structure and producing well lit, well ventilated spaces using the relative position from the sun to the orientation of their structures.

These days, as the traditional sources of energy became a lot more expensive, homeowners were once again turning to the sun for energy requirements.

Since the 1950’s, harnessing the sun’s rays has been developing and today the solar cell products has achieved very efficient levels that modern (so-called green home) designs apply the sun’s energy to provide power for the home.

While solar energy is free, the device which will convert it to run our appliances. To provide solar energy for the home, solar cells known as photovoltaic created from semi-conducting materials, are grouped into modules. These solar panels are mounted on rooftops, yards or open spaces wherever it can capture the maximum amount of sunlight.

Whenever possible, the panels is going to be set up facing south to get the most out of the sunlight but tracking systems are also used to follow the direction from the sun. The solar panels collect the energy from the sunlight. The procedure simply is that when the panels are exposed to sunlight, the electrons are separated form the atoms. This movement of the electrons creates electrical power.

To keep energy, pumps are often used – circulating water in the cells. The water goes into a storage tank wherever the energy is stored, ready for use. Occasionally, the use of gravity is employed if it will just the same store the heated water in to the tank.

In spite of all the improvement in solar energy though, the use of this technology is not enough to supply power to the whole home. The best method so far can only fulfill about 80% of a households power needs. The employment of solar energy for the home will still need the use of the conventional power distribution method.

Powering the homes by solar means will still, for a while be augmented by a local power distribution agency. To many, this is already a good starting point. Homeowners that feel that the high price of powering their houses via solar power, is justified when compared to the price that is now becoming paid for conventional electrification method where horrendous amounts of CO2 are becoming dumped into the atmosphere just to generate a pitiful amount of electrical power.

Nevertheless, due in part to the rising costs of power, the technology for solar energy has been undergoing rapid phases of improvement. Experts are confident that within five years, powering the home via the solar method is going to be made widely obtainable for those who prefer it as its sole energy source. – 35634

Utilizing solar energy or the power coming from the sun’s rays has many benefits. Let us take a closer look on each of them.

Solar energy saves money.

In 2006, we saw the highest jump on residential electric rate. In some areas of the country, as much as 60% increase was seen. Many experts agree that the trend will likely to continue in the years to come. This means that you have to pay larger sum of cash to sustain your monthly electric consumption. But if you produce your own power, you can prevent paying the high cost of energy – especially now when energy prices are very unstable.

On a larger scale, if American households switch to other types of alternative energy including solar energy, the nation’s spending on imported oil will greatly decrease.

Solar energy is environment-friendly.

The issue of global warming will not go away. So if you want to do your part to save this planet, drawing your power requirement from the sun will make a great difference.

Solar energy is sustainable and renewable unlike gas, coal and oil that most utility companies use. It does not produce sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, mercury or carbon dioxide as byproducts so it doesn’t pollute the air. Since it doesn’t emit greenhouse gases, it doesn’t contribute to global warming.

Using solar energy reduces demand for fossil fuel and reduces the nation’s dependence on foreign energy sources.

Government gives incentives to those who use alternative form of energy.

Many are discouraged to install solar electric systems because of the initial cost of the project. But, some states like California offers federal tax credits as much as $2000 and up front rebate that covers 20% to 30% of the total system cost. These offers are relatively good considering the substantial increase of energy cost in recent years.

Note: Due to the increasing number of households who want to switch into alternative forms of energy, the incentive levels decline. Check with your state government the rates it offer if you are going to make a switch.

Solar power systems are dependable and require little or no maintenance.

Photovoltaic (PV) cells that are used in solar power systems are capable of providing electricity for a very long time. Originally developed for space use, PV cells require little or no maintenance. The proof is, most satellites orbiting earth use PV cells that are in harsh environment, not maintained but are still working properly. The manufacturers of solar panels can give as much as 25-years warranty. Talk about quality and dependability.

Solar energy helps improve the quality of life.

Saving the planet one watt at a time if done collectively will help reduce the effects of global warming. It will also reduce demand on coal, oil or gas power plants that emit harmful gases. In turn, using solar power helps clean the air and improves the quality of life of every individual.

Solar energy can reduce demands for other non-biodegradable materials.

For utility companies to distribute power to every home, they need materials necessary in building these systems of power lines like electric cable and steel. These require energy to produce and contribute to greenhouse gases emissions. If we can cut the demand for power plant and switch into alternative energy, we can also reduce the demand for these materials and help the environment.

Lastly, you got to check out the (http://www.lifegateway.com/uaw/solar/) Energy Saving method that save the earth and my bill too. Now, I am also sell them for a neat profit to my neighbors.

But the choice between traditional and alternative solutions of energy, that is something the majority of us can consider to do.

First the advantages:

Solar energy is abundant and is free. We can count the sun to rise tomorrow and the day after that. Oil and natural gases on the other hand are non renewable, once the source taps out, it is gone forever. Certainly you will find other areas that could still be tapped but sooner that could running out of oil as well.

Solar energy does not pollute the air. If ever, the heat coming from the sun cleans the environment and maintains the earth’s eco balance. Not so with the oil. Oil, its derivatives and its byproducts are great pollutants. In fact, 22,000 pounds of carbon monoxide will need to be produced first for the oil to be prepared and provide a home with electrical energy for a year.

Solar energy harnessing panels are silent operators. Except maybe for the mechanical contraptions that are built into the panels as a result it could track the sun, from the collection of the suns rays to its photovoltaic conversion, they give neither a peep nor a squeak. It is a world of difference from the cacophony of giant drills and pumps that are used to extract oil form the ground.

Upkeep for the solar panels is very easy. Except for the mechanical parts that are optional, pretty much no maintenance is required. Once it is installed nothing much will be the cause for worry. The energy that is derived is free. With oil there is no telling what the next pump price would be and when. Oil, being a commodity, heavily depend its prices on market forces. Often with the right strategies, even market forces could be manipulated that could cause volatility in pricing.

The Disadvantages of Solar Energy

The cost. While solar energy is free, the cost of installation setbacks many household from setting up it. Brand new solar energy generating systems are pricey. Although it tends to pay off overtime, initial cash out could range into several thousands of dollars depending on the quality and volume of generated power a household or an establishment would require. While solar energy technology has been around since the 1950’s it is only in recent years that its development was spurred. While costs of installation could also be subjective depending on the purchasing capacity of a customer, the benefits that could be derived out of it is enormous although mostly in unquantifiable terms.

For mass consumption, distribution lines are needed and this remains to be a big issue. Old antiquated distribution lines used to transfer electricity and other modes of fuel into the homes are clogged in many regions that to deliver solar energy power into the houses of consumers will require a different strategy.

Be that as it may, the benefits from solar power far outweigh its disadvantages. It is an great source of energy that it may soon be the norm in power generation. – 35634

Lastly, you got to check out the (http://www.lifegateway.com/uaw/solar/) Energy Saving method that save the earth and my bill too. I didn’t know that I can make my own solar panel that only costs me less than one thousand dollar.

A vital part of having a comfortable home free of the sounds of the outside world is having insulation in the walls. The importance of wall insulation is also recognized in the amount of energy and money saved by weatherproofing the building. Insulation can be added to existing homes to help save money on utility bills and is commonly added to every new home. There are a couple of different options when it comes to insulating an existing home, but there are many types of insulation that can be used in new homes. To find the best type for a building, it is very important to do a little research on the different types of insulation and their benefits.

The following paragraphs are just a general overview of wall insulation and is not a complete list of the types of insulation being offered. There are many precautions to take when handling any type of insulation, so it is recommended to seek professional help if there are any questions.

There are a few reasons that insulation is used in the walls of homes and places of business. The most common is to sound proof the dwelling and to save energy and money on heating and cooling. This is an important part of making a home comfortable for family and friends.

If there is no insulation in the walls, floors, basement or attic, noises would reverberate through the building, making it very easy to hear what is happening in other rooms. In order to help block sounds from outside, such as traffic, neighbors and barking dogs, insulation should be used.

The amount of energy savings is a big bonus when it comes to using quality wall insulation installed by qualified professionals. Whether it is a new home or an existing home, using quality insulation can save the owner literally thousands of dollars on heating and cooling expenses. The added insulation helps provide an extra barrier between the elements of the outside world and the inside of the structure, helping to save energy by keeping the air conditioning and heating inside the building.

There are a few different types of insulation that can be used. If the structure is new, there are more choices of insulation than an already existing structure. The most commonly used type of insulation used in new homes is the fiberglass roll out blankets. These blankets are quite easy to use and can be added anywhere that needs insulation installed.

The most common type used in new homes is the fiberglass blankets that unroll, making it easy to cut and install. However, it is not practical to use this type in existing buildings. It is highly recommended that professionals be used in existing structures to ensure that the correct type is used. The most commonly used is the spray foam insulation because it does not require the walls to be torn down or replaced.

There are many important reasons to have a home or business properly insulated. Without the use of wall insulation, buildings and structures would be very uncomfortable to humans and animals alike. When looking to either add insulation in an existing building or insulating a new structure, the consumer will have some choices to make. There are a few different types of insulation that can be installed so a little research may be in the best interest of the consumer.

This article will cover the basics of insulation and will not cover all the necessary considerations. When looking to use any type of insulation, it is recommended that you learn what your options are, then look at the brand and a company that is trained in providing you with quality insulation and professional installation.

A couple of the most common reasons to add insulation to a home or place of business is to add a little sound and weather proofing to the structure. When considering the comfort of the home, insulation is vital Insulation allows the home or business owner to keep the building cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

If there is no insulation in the walls, floors, basement or attic, noises would reverberate through the building, making it very easy to hear what is happening in other rooms. In order to help block sounds from outside, such as traffic, neighbors and barking dogs, insulation should be used.

One of the most important reasons wall insulation is used is because it helps save money on utility bills. Insulation helps provide a barrier between the outside elements and the interior of the home. Using insulation will dramatically save money on heating and cooling of a dwelling.

There are a few different types of insulation that can be used. If the structure is new, there are more choices of insulation than an already existing structure. The most commonly used type of insulation used in new homes is the fiberglass roll out blankets. These blankets are quite easy to use and can be added anywhere that needs insulation installed.

The most common way to insulate walls of an existing structure is by using spray foam. This is typically done by professionals that are thoroughly trained, but can be done by a homeowner if caution is used. This method of insulating walls does not require the walls to be open. To find more choices in spray foam or other types of wall insulation, do a little research online. – 35634

Harnessing the power of the sun’s ray to create energy to power our house is very appealing. But the question is, “Is everything about solar energy good?”

Looking at the current price of fossil fuel-based electricity, it is quite impractical to convert into solar energy system. However, with the growing concern on the state of the earth, there is really a need to find other means of energy aside from what power plants are using right now. Where do you place yourself?

Whether you are an advocate of clean energy or simply care about where your finances go, looking at the pros and cons of residential solar energy system will help you decide on whether to convert or not.

Pros

Solar energy is free. Did you know that the earth absorbs 174 pettawatts of solar radiation? This means that we have more than enough source of free energy to power every house in the world. Unfortunately, most of our energy is still drawn from oil, gas and coal. But in recent years, there is a steady increase of demand for alternative and renewable energy like solar power. It is estimated that the demand for alternative sources of energy will increase by 53% between 1999 and 2020.

Solar energy is clean, renewable and sustainable. Because the energy created from the sun’s rays does not produce byproducts like those from fossil fuel power plants (sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, mercury or carbon dioxide), it does not contribute to pollution. Accordingly, the increase in the use of solar energy and other alternative forms of energy will decrease the demand for greenhouse gases-producing power plants.

The price of photovoltaic cells is steadily decreasing. The demand for solar panels has risen by 57% in the United States in 2007 and is steadily increasing on a monthly basis. The increase in demand results to the improvement of solar technology as a whole. The prices of photovoltaic cells have declined on the average of 4% every year over the past 15 years.

Solar panels can be installed on most rooftops, eliminating the problem of finding a suitable place for installation. Solar panels require little or no maintenance. The original photovoltaic cells technology is used for most satellites orbiting our earth today which are not maintained at all. Many solar panel manufacturers give 25 to 40 years warranty on their products.

Because most areas of the country receive a substantial amount of sunlight throughout the year, solar panels can be installed anywhere.

Many states in the country give tax credits and rebates to households who want to install solar energy system. Check with your state government the cost of these incentives.

Cons

While the prices of PV cells are in constant decline, the cost of installation is substantially high compared to the current electric cost. But the good thing is, after your initial cash out, you don’t have to pay every month on electric bills for the rest of your life.

On areas cities and areas with heavy pollution problem, solar energy may not work as fine. Weather can also affect the efficiency of solar energy. If it is raining, overcast weather or if there is a hurricane, the solar panels’ efficiency is decreased.

You are only producing energy during day time.

These are general pros and cons you might encounter when considering the conversion to solar energy system. It would be best if your decision is based on location, cost, budget, rebates, tax credits and practicality. – 35634

Lastly, you got to check out the (http://www.lifegateway.com/uaw/solar/) Energy Saving method that save the earth and my bill too. Now, I am also sell them for a neat profit to my neighbors.
